UDPG, the precursor of pullulan polysaccharide, plays an important role in the biosynthesis of pullulan polysaccharide. Catley et al. speculated that UDPG first transferred a glucose residue to the liposome molecule through a phosphate bond, and then UDPG continued to transfer a glucose residue to form liposome isomaltose.
