Aidibenzoquinone is a synthetic analogue of coenzyme Q10. It has the same ring-like structure of benzoquinone, and its short alkyl side chain replaces the isoprenoid side chain of COQ10. It is easier to pass through biofilm and blood-brain barrier. Aidibenzoquinone and coenzyme Q10 play an important role in electron transfer and antioxidation. Benzoquinone ring receives two electron reductions to form stable hydroquinone. In the electron transfer chain, the oxidative and reductive forms are transformed into the hydrogen transmitter and carrier of electron transfer in mitochondrial respiratory chain. Benzene brewing ring accepts an electron to form an unstable semiquinone structure, which forms superoxide and promotes the occurrence of oxidative stress.

Principle of scavenging free radicals
Coenzyme Q10 scavenges free radicals and transfers electrons depending on mitochondrial function, especially the function of mitochondrial complex I. However, different from coenzyme Q10, adebenzoquinone, like coenzyme Q10, can be reduced by binding to hydrophobic quinone sites in mitochondrial complex I. However, due to its short side chain, adebenzoquinone is not easy to dissociate from the pocket site of mitochondrial complex I, and its release is very slow. As a competitive substrate, it inhibits the transfer of electrons to endogenous coenzyme Q. At the same time, due to the high lipophilicity of endogenous coenzyme Q, it can not bind to "non-physiological" hydrophilic quinone binding sites.
