Tranexemic acid is a competitive inhibitor of plasmin activation, commonly used as a hemostatic agent due to its anti-fibrinolysis action is also promoted as a systemic skin whitening agent particularly as oral or intradermal injections for melasma. Melasma is a common acquired pigmentary disorder that occurs usually in women, especially in Asia. The prevalence of melasma is around 13% and can seriously affect the appearance and quality of life of the women it affects. Oral tranexamic acid (TXA) treatment is regarded as the preferred method for curing melasma in some countries. However, oral TXA treatment of melasma, which requires a long treatment period, has the side effect of menstrual reduction in some patients. Tranexamic acid is a kind of protease inhibitor. It rapidly suppresses the activity of tyrosinase and melanocytes. After its entry into the dermis, it increases collagen synthesis directly and thoroughly cuts off the channel for the formation of melanin due to ultraviolet irradiation. The special hypodermis absorbent it contains can rapidly and effectively whiten the skin. It helps eliminate black spots, prevents and reduces pigmentation, leaving the skin white and pretty.

Synergistic effects with other whitening ingredients
Tranexamic acid produces good synergistic effect when combined with ascorbic acid or its derivatives such as magnesium ascorbyl phosphate, 3-O-ethyl ascorbic acid, disodium adenosine triphophate, escinol (deacylated product of escin under hydrolysis by sodium methylate), L-cysteine. Penetration enhancers helps the transdermic absorption of tranexamic acid into spots.
