Rhodiola is a perennial herb or subshrub of Crassulaceae. Salidroside and flavonoids are the main active ingredients of Rhodiola, salidroside can prevent ultraviolet radiation on lipid and cell membrane damage, improve the anti fatigue function of heart and lung, and protect the function of the immune system, the mechanism of anti-aging; flavonoids has strong antioxidant and free radical scavenging effect, anti lipid oxidation and anti-aging. The salidroside and flavonoids were extracted from Rhodiola rosea root by water extraction. The extraction technology was optimized by orthogonal test, and the effects of Rhodiola extract on delaying aging and whitening were discussed, so as to provide basis for its future application in cosmetics industry.

Product feature application of Rhodiola Rosea Extract
Scavenging the antioxidant capacity of free radicals
The comparison of the antioxidant capacity of Rhodiola extract and VC solution for free radical scavenging is shown in Figure 1. From Figure 1, it is known that Rhodiola extract has the ability to scavenge free radicals in vitro, and the scavenging rate is positively correlated with the concentration of the extract. In cosmetics industry, VC is used as a positive control to evaluate the ability of a substance to scavenge free radicals, and the clearance effect is closer to VC, which indicates that the effect of scavenging free radicals is better. The scavenging rate of Rhodiola rosea extract with a mass fraction of 0.4% almost reached the level of VC solution at the same concentration, indicating that Rhodiola rosea extract has good antioxidant activity in vitro, and can be used as an additive for delaying aging cosmetics.
Tyrosinase inhibition capacity of Rhodiola root extract at different concentrations
Rhodiola extract has the ability to inhibit tyrosinase activity in vitro, and the inhibition rate is positively correlated with the concentration of the extract. Arbutin is internationally recognized as a can inhibit tyrosinase activity, with whitening substances, which can inhibit the tyrosinase in lower concentrations of activity, blocking the skin in the tyrosinase catalyzed tyrosine into melanin, thereby reducing the generation of black pigment, whitening effect. Therefore, in the cosmetics industry in general with arbutin as positive control to evaluate a substance whitening, tyrosinase inhibition effect is close to that of the substance of arbutin, tyrosinase inhibition effect is better, so as to reduce the formation of melanin, whitening effect. You can see from Figure 2, the ability to inhibit tyrosinase liquid of Rhodiola arbutin solution with the same concentration close to that of Rhodiola extract has a whitening effect, can be used as a whitening cosmetic additive.
