Chlorogenic acid and its derivatives have a stronger free radical scavenging effect than ascorbic acid and caffeic acid. Can effectively scavenge DPPH free radicals, hydroxyl radicals and superoxide anion radicals: it can inhibit the oxidation of low density lipoprotein, body cells to maintain the normal structure and function, plays an important role in preventing and delaying tumor, mutation and decay phenomenon.
Studies at home and abroad show that chlorogenic acid is an effective acid antioxidant, and its antioxidant capacity is stronger than caffeic acid, para hydroxybenzoic acid, ferulic acid and syringic acid, and common antioxidants.
This experiment uses phenanthroline oxidation method, that the standard of chlorogenic acid and vitamin C as the control to detect the chlorogenic acid extract of Eucommia ulmoides Oliver on hydroxyl radicals clear role. With the increase of concentration, the scavenging ability of hydroxyl radical was significantly enhanced. The maximum scavenging rates were 65.15%, 57.95%, 47.72%., respectively.
